Boyce & Bean has built a reputation for creating beautiful and natural handmade tile. RealMetal is no exception. As an alternative to the endless versions of "metalized" products, RealMetal is just as its name says ˆ genuine copper, brass, and aluminum filled with a cement-based material ˆ strong, lightweight and easy to install.
RealMetal was designed as a compliment to our Del Mar Ceramic and Beach Glass tile products. It is also stunning when installed next to granite, limestone, slate or marble. Boyce & Bean has captured the beauty of real metal and made it as easy to install as ceramic tile.
APPLICATION
Our RealMetal products are 1/2" thick and may be used on interior and exterior walls and back splashes in residential or commercial locations.
INSTALLATION
We recommend non-sag type white thin-set mixed with 100% latex additive. RealMetal can be trimmed using any wet-saw with a diamond blade. Please see installation instructions for full details.
GROUT
Any color grout, sanded or unsanded, may be used. This is an enormous advantage for installation. RealMetal was engineered to be installed with sanded grout to permit mixing with other products like stone, Del Mar Ceramic or Beach Glass. The sanded grout will not injure the integrity of the finish; it will create minor surface abrasion, which can be largely erased with an application of ordinary floor wax. This is similar to the kind of abrasion and upkeep common with winyl tile or linoleum. Please see installation instructions for full details.
UPKEEP
RealMetal is finished with a remarkably durable clear coat engineered to last in excess of ten years in a wet, exterior marine environment, e.g. on boat hardware. When cleaing, use ammonia, soap and water applied with a sponge. Ammonia-based window cleaners, e.g. Windex, may also be used. Harsh chemical cleaners (e.g. Tilex or Comet) will damage the top clear coat.
After cleaning, we recommend applying a coat of ordinary floor wax, paste or liquid, which restores the original beauty of the product and offers additional protection. Please see installation instructions for full details.
LIGHT
Because RealMetal Tile is genuine copper, brass, or aluminum, it reflects light and casts shadows, which gives this product the natural beauty or variation. RealMetal is metal tile with natural character.
